Abram's Falls 05-14-2007Length 2.5 miles one way. Level of difficulty: Easy. Elevations: Start 1,700 feet; end 1,500 feet. Maps: USGS quads 148SE, Cades Cove; 148SW, Calderwood. Finding the Trailhead Take U.S. Highway 321 from Maryville through Townsend and fork left, just after the Townsend Visitors Center, to enter GSMNP. Turn right onto Laurel Creek Road to join the Cades Cove Loop and continue almost half of the way around the loop. Turn right between signposts 10 and 11 at the sign for Abrams Falls, just before reaching the Cades Cove Visitors Center. Take the dirt road to the large parking lot for the trailhead. |
Notes on different pictures.....The pictures that show fire damage were from a controlled burn and yes that snake was along the trail. Wear decent shoes, this trail is rocky and if you decide to go to the top of the falls be mindful of how slippery those rocks are when they are wet. The mist keeps them continuously damp. |
